艺术家关晶晶GUAN JINGJING (b.1983)油画作品

在2009年与诗人欧阳江河的对话中,关晶晶提出了“风格伴随着对生命的理解”,她的艺术实践,也一直践行此艺术理念。从早期“无题”系列的抽象,“剩山”系列的余象,到近年创作的“借象”系列,她不停的从风格中走出来,又继续往前走。对她来说,艺术与创作者应该是同一的,艺术不是创作者创作出某个作品,而是作为生命的整体去行进,艺术不应该向下坍塌成某个不可改变的、不可逆转的、固定的结果。艺术的意义不在于作为结果来呈现,而在于作为全体的生命过程去显现,作为持续不断的变化来显现。作品只是艺术坍塌下来的痕迹,对创作者来说,坍塌下来的作品应该抛在身后,而创作者应该一去不复返。

In a 2009 dialogue with poet Ouyang Jianghe, Guan Jingjing articulated, "style follows an understanding of life," a philosophy consistently embodied in her artistic journey. From the abstract explorations of her early "Untitled" series and the residual imagery captured in her "Remnant Mountain" works, to the profound conceptual reflections of her recent "Borrowing Images" series, Guan perpetually transcends stylistic confines, always pushing forward.

For Guan, artist and artwork are inseparable, unified as a continual progression of existence itself. Art is not the mere crafting of isolated works but the dynamic, unfolding journey of life in its entirety. It should never collapse into a static, immutable, irreversible outcome. The essence of art lies not in its finalized form, but rather in its embodiment of the life process—an ever-evolving expression of transformation. Artworks themselves are but transient echoes, ephemeral residues of art's perpetual flow. Guan believes that these echoes must be left behind, as the creator journeys onward, never looking back.

关晶晶:“无题”感言(2008)

为什么画画?因为我的需要,可以获得生命被成全的幸福。就像在冬季无边无际的寒冷里渴望着温暖,近乎本能,自然而然,无需言语。 语言介于物质与精神之间,却永远无法准确地指向心灵,对于精神,语言永远都是徒劳的。

我不是为了揭示生活的意义与无意义,时间从不因我们而存在,这宏宏惑惑的宇空里,一百年算单位,一千年才算时间。 个体生命转瞬即逝,如过眼云烟。 也许不在于“画”本身,而在于不断画的过程中,在精神维度里不断超越自己,融入这广阔的宇空里,寻找“自然”的轨迹。

画只是一种存在方式,或者理由,或是生命的载体,我便在这片森林里寻找能打动我的东西,一种隐性的,未加修饰的,真实的“潜秩序”。 不是人为的,不是规范的,不是可以设计的,看似“混乱无序”,在人的限度之外,却是存在着另外的真实的空间,不因人的因素为转移,没有光影,没有色彩,最为真实质朴,宁静地存在于空间里。 闭上双眼,也许会有第三只眼睛打开,洞悉一个更为真实的世界。

Guan Jingjing: Reflections on Untitled Series (2008)

Why draw ? Because of my needs, I can attain the happiness of having my life fulfilled. Just like yearning for warmth in the endless cold of winter, almost instinctively, naturally, without the need for words. Language is between material and spiritual, but it can never accurately point to the mind. For the mind, language is always futile. 

I am not here to reveal the meaning or meaninglessness of life. Time never exists because of us. In this vast and confusing universe, a hundred years is considered a unit, and a thousand years is considered time. Individual life is fleeting, like passing clouds and smoke. Perhaps it's not about the 'painting' itself, but about constantly surpassing oneself in the spiritual dimension, integrating into this vast universe, and searching for the trajectory of 'nature' in the process of continuous painting. 

Painting is just a way of existence, or a reason, or a carrier of life. I search for something that can move me in this forest, an implicit, unadorned, and authentic 'hidden order'. It is not man-made, not standardized, not designable. Although it may seem "chaotic and disorderly", there exists another real space beyond human limits. It is not influenced by human factors, without light, shadow, or color. It is the most authentic, simple, and peaceful existence in space. Close your eyes, perhaps a third eye will open, revealing a more real world.
